French Macaron Recipe

My sister was in the mood for an impromptu baking session earlier today and she decided to make french macarons. Thought I'd share with you how she did it. :)

What you'll need:
  • 3/4 cup Almond powder (We didn't have almond powder so we just made it! All you have to do is blend up some raw almonds using a blender/ food processor)
  • 1 cup powder sugar

Sabaidee Thai Restaurant, Mahboula

Sabaidee is a Thai restaurant that we often go to (at least thrice a month) because my parents LOVE their tom-yum soup. This is much closer to our place compared to our other favorite Thai resto which is located in Kuwait City.
Pad Thai
Poh Piah Tod - KD 1.250
Fried Spring Rolls (available in Shrimp, Chicken or Vegetable)
The server will ask you whether you like your soup spicy or "medium spicy". We usually have ours "spicy" and although I love spicy food, I think that "medium spicy" is enough for me.
Tom Yum soup

Su-ki - KD 1.750
Steamboat dish (available in seafood, shrimp, chicken or beef)
Not a fan of the desserts available in the other Thai resto but I'm totally hooked on this one!
Khao Nuew Ma Maung - KD 1.500
Sticky rice with Mango
Check out Sabaidee if you're anywhere near the Fahaheel or Mahboula area and you're craving for Thai cuisine. Their place is a bit small and they're usually packed especially during dinner time but I guess that already says a lot about the quality of their food. ;)

QUINOA 101/ How to cook Quinoa

You've probably heard/read/seen me tweeting and Instagram-ing about Quinoa during the past few weeks. I'm totally hooked and I wish I learned about this stuff 15 years ago. Because of Quinoa (pronounced as KEEN-WAH. not kee-no-wa), I no longer eat or even crave for white rice! I eat it with my salad or with my viand and why wouldn't I? It's so much more healthier and so much more nutritious than white or brown rice!

QUINOA 101
- It is technically a seed, not a grain but it is widely used the same way as other whole grains.
- Source of complete protein and has lots of fiber, phosphorus, magnesium and iron.
- Gluten-free and easy to digest.
Cooking Quinoa is a lot like cooking rice. Just remember this ratio-
2:1
(2 cups of water for every 1 cup of Quinoa)
Also, 1 cup of dry (uncooked) Quinoa = 3 cups cooked

First, rinse the quinoa thoroughly in a strainer (to remove its natural coating which tastes bitter)
Next, stir in the quinoa with the liquid (some people cook it with water and some like to use broth) and drizzle in some salt.

Hot night, wind was blowin'

The jacket is something that I've been constantly abusing for the past month. I know its too hot to even wear a jacket outside but this one has sheer sleeves so its a perfect "summer jacket" (if that even makes any sense. LOL).. I got it from the H&M sale last month! :)

Tuna Pasta Salad Recipe

Here's a quick and simple salad recipe for you guys!

Honestly, this salad will taste even more (cue Dora voice) DELICIOSO if you use white pasta and mayonnaise. But since I vowed to eat clean this week, I used whole wheat pasta and Greek yogurt as an alternative to mayo. If you're not on a strict diet though, feel free to use mayonnaise instead of yogurt. :)

What you'll need:
- Pasta (of your choice)
- Tuna (packed in water-- drain it first before you mix it with the salad)
