Exotic Turkish Textiles at the Sadu House

My Mom and I got invited to attend a special presentation of Exotic Turkish Textiles at Sadu House (Al Sadu) the other day.

For some reason, the vest reminds me of Versace.
Besides discussing the history of textile and embroidery, they also showed us a sneak peek of what happens during "Henna Night" where all the girls wear their best clothes made of exotic and beautiful textile.
"Henna Night" is like the arab version of a bachelorette party where the bride-to-be's family and friends
have a party/gathering and they dance and draw Mehndi (henna) on the bride's palms and feet.

Posing with the "bride". :)

With jewelry designer and my highschool friend, Daniela Calumba. Thanks for inviting me!
Sadu House (Al Sadu) is an artistic house and museum located just beside the Kuwait National Musuem. After the presentation, I went around and took a few photos since it was also my very first time to visit a museum here in Kuwait.

Everything inside this museum were all hand woven by the Bedouin people.

Can you imagine how long it must have taken to finish this?!

This is a chair that you put on top of a camel. Pretty cool, huh? :)
It's always nice to learn new things about other people's traditions and culture and also be able to appreciate all their handiwork. Looking forward to visiting more museums in the future..
