So as you've probably noticed, I made a few changes- but still kept the white background because I like it simple and clean.. :)
With the new header and a few other things, comes a new attitude. Thanks to this blog I discovered the other night. Now I'm not much of a writer so let me just share with you what they wrote as their blog description.
WHAT'S THE BIG, FAT DEAL ANYWAY?
We have had enough-- enough with the stupid media that bombard very unnatural images that make us want to change every bit of our bodies. Enough with the caucasian looking models that only make us want to hate our beautiful Filipina features. Enough supressing our urges to eat good Filipino food just to look like the women shown by the advertisements in our country. ENOUGH. Not all people are meant to be thin as the media evoke.
This blog will tackle the TRUE BEAUTY of the Filipina women, as we mainly discuss body acceptance. We want you to finally relate to the images that we will be posting. We want you to feel good about yourself. We want you to love your body 'cos it's the only one you've got. We want you to work with it and not fight with it. We want you to share as we share, vent as we vent, about the struggles we've all had due to the booming imperative (and dangerous) persuasion of the media. It's time to be REALLY comfortable in your own skin. What's the big, fat deal anyway?! Let everything bulge out! Embrace that beautiful belly. :)
NAMAN! Description
palang, nakaka-empower
na!! I started reading their posts and all of a sudden, I felt so ashamed of all the times I've been so cruel to myself. I know I've blogged about my
weight loss story already and I'm all for living a healthy lifestyle but I think I also have to stress on how we should all love our body no matter what size, shape or color. A lot of times I still become really conscious of the way I look, there are days when I look at the mirror and I'm like-- UGH. There are still times when I whine and tell myself I'm too fat to wear this, too fat to do that.. etc etc etc.. Its stupid sometimes when you realize that the only person who's bringing you down is yourself. I actually only came to realize that after I've read their blog.

They're so pretty, noh?
YES... They're twins!! :) |
In their blog, they talk about how effed up the media is for making us believe that being skinny is beautiful. They blog about their personal experiences, their struggles and the importance of self-love, acceptance and KNOWING that you are beautiful. These girls are truly an inspiration. I look up to a lot of other girls because they're smart and fashionable but these two- they got it all! [
Parang SM
lang? We've got it all for you! Hahaha!] They're smart, they're beautiful inside & out, and they're so
fasyooonn!!!
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that being overweight is okay- that we should just accept it and shouldn't do anything about it. I don't think that's what Danah & Stacy are trying to say either. Yes, we should all love ourselves, our body- including all of our flaws. But loving also means taking care- of ourselves and of our health.
The night I discovered their blog, I felt so overwhelmed.. I can't even explain how it felt like for me. I was so moved and so inspired.. Before I went to bed that night, I took a good look at myself in the mirror and
promised that I would never make fun or be so hard on myself anymore.. That I would love myself even more and never let anyone's opinion about my weight get in my way <3

As part of the new changes on my blog, we're going to have a new "segment" as well!
Let me introduce this awesome guy I've been going out with for more than 6 years now. :)
His name is
Zee and he's a 24 y/o graduating Medicine Student- currently in New York for his Junior Internship. The same guy who tells me I'm beautiful no matter what my weight is. :P Haha!!
He'll be at the end of some of my posts to give his opinion as a guy.. and/or share with us what he has learned in Med school. :) (if my topic is health-related). Some might find it a little boring to read about scientific/ medical explanations but we'll try to make it simpler for everyone and not use big words. :) Hey, you never know, you might learn a thing or two.. Its always great to learn something new everyday!! :D
The best way to lose weight.. The secret of the century is...
SMALL FREQUENT MEALS combined with EXERCISE.
When a person wakes up in the morning, there's a particular hormone (called Melatonin) that turns "OFF". Melatonin is responsible for shifting your body's metabolism so that at 8 AM, when you wake up and there's low melatonin, it means that your body is going to shift into Catabolism (meaning, everything that you eat is gonna be broken down). That's why you should eat a hearty breakfast and a heavy lunch.
BUT..
At 8 PM, your brain senses that it's getting DARK.. and now Melatonin starts to peak.. so your body changes gear again.. Now it's into Anabolic phase (anabolism means BUILDING UP)- this means that everything you eat AFTER 8 PM is gonna be stored in your ass as FAT!
FLUBBER!
LARD!
That's right! At 8 PM, your body starts synthesizing cholesterol.. And this is why Doctors/ Nutritionists recommend a light dinner only.
There's a part of the brain called the HYPOTHALAMUS. Your Hypothalamus has several parts:
>Medial part/ "Satiety Center" - responsible for letting you know that you're full.
>Lateral part/ "HUNGER Center" - stimulates your hunger.
What stimulates the safety center, might you ask??
SUGAR.
HYPERglycemia (high blood sugar) turns on the satiety center.
While HYPOglycemia (low blood sugar) stimulates the HUNGER center.
SOOO..
WHAT IF..
Your blood sugar was neither high or low? What if it was NORMAL? Just there in the middle.. What do you think that would feel like?
Hmm.. Let's see..
You'd neither be hungry nor would you be full..
Well I guess that would make you feel NORMAL.
And that, ladies and gentlemen- is the reason why small frequent meals are the BEST way to lose weight. Because you are always euglycemic. Not too high, and not too low. You feel just fine. That means that you wont pig out during a meal and over eat.
**It takes the hypothalamus 20 minutes to figure out that there's food in your belly. By that time, you might have already over ate..
As for exercise- strenuous exercise for at least 45 minutes causes the muscle to burn fat for the next 4-6 hours! I would get into the details but I would have to start talking about molecules and cytochromes and so on.................
If you lose weight, guys will notice you. Men... even the most superficial men.. like women with curves in all the right places.. and to get those curves, you need to eat. The most important thing is to be comfortable with your body. Coz you can be a C cup but you can still be awkward as hell. I mean personally, I'm a natural guy. Small, big, medium, large, wide, narrow.. Whatever shape they come in, I like 'em natural. Most men do. Ever see those women on the street that have like DD implants? I mean you could get crushed between those melons. They're huge.
BUT..
It just looks wrong.
Know what I mean?
Its different when its natural.. When its natural its all good.
Coz you know this is how you were intended to look like..
And you know what that means.. That means if you're an A cup- you will never look your best as anything else. Get it?
This is how it was supposed to be..
Its not like God made a mistake with you and forgot to add the silicone.
My boyfriend is crazy.
